According to a press release, the Government of Canada is investing CA$471,677 in seven community-shared spaces in Prince Edward Island to stimulate local economies, create jobs, and improve the quality of life of Canadians.

Public spaces that promote social interaction and physical activity, and provide access to recreational programs and facilities are crucial to the overall well-being of individuals and benefit families and our communities.

Canadian economic recovery is closely linked to the vitality of its local communities and their shared spaces.

Earlier this week, Heath MacDonald, Member of Parliament for Malpeque, announced total investments of CA$471,677 through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) for seven projects in Central Prince Edward Island.

The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

The CCRF was launched in June 2021, it provides CA$500 million over two years to Canada’s regional development agencies (RDAs) to invest in shared and inclusive public spaces.

The Canadian government is committed to investing in shared spaces to make them safer, greener, and more accessible to help stimulate local economies, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Canadians.

“Strong, vibrant communities on Prince Edward Island are a critical part of a robust and inclusive economic recovery. Investing in shared public spaces like parks and community halls in Central P.E.I. helps revitalize our economy, boosts tourism, and gives residents a place to come together safely,” said The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.
